LNCtips.com: 4 LNC New Year's Resolutions

It's that time of year.  You're probably thinking of resolutions for the New Year related to your personal goals, such as losing weight or starting a fitness program.  It's also the time of year to resolve to kick your legal nurse career and consulting business into high gear.  Whether you're a new or seasoned LNC, here are few resolutions to consider.

1) Revise your resume or CV.  This is very easy to overlook, especially if you've been in the same position for a while.  But if you've served on a professional committee, given a presentation, written an article or book chapter, it's time to update your resume or CV.  While you're at it, update the bio on your website too.

2) Speaking of websites, they're an excellent marketing tool for legal nurse consultants. Maybe it's time to freshen yours up.  If your website is more than five years old, it may need a cosmetic tune up.  And if you're an independent LNC without a website, now's the time to create one.

3) Dip a toe into social media waters.  You may already use Facebook to interact with family and friends.  If so, you'll know how to set up a business account.  My favorite business social media site is LinkedIn.  It's easy for an LNC who's new to social media to connect with legal nurses and potential clients.  After you've joined, locate some groups, and ask/answer questions about professional topics that interest you.

4) Develop and refine your expertise.  Even if you don't do expert work, having expertise in a particular area gives you an edge over your competitors.  Market yourself so that your clients and potential clients can differentiate you from other legal nurse consultants.

It's easy to start a business.  Growing and maintaining a successful business requires determination to meet the goals you've set for it.  Whether you're a new or seasoned LNC, make resolutions to take your legal nurse consulting business to the next level.
